1. About Moonrise Sanctuary

Moonrise Sanctuary is dedicated to the care, protection, rehabilitation, and lifelong support of horses and other animals in need. Our website is intended to share information about our mission, animals, programs, events, volunteer opportunities, donations, and ways the public can support our work.

The information on this website is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.

2. Website Content

We make reasonable efforts to keep the information on this website accurate and up to date. However, animal care needs, program availability, event details, visitor policies, volunteer opportunities, sponsorship availability, and donation programs may change at any time.

3. Animal Information and Stories

Unless we clearly state otherwise, animals at Moonrise Sanctuary are not available for sale, lease, riding, breeding, or private ownership.

4.Donations and Tax-Deductibility

Moonrise Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to Moonrise Sanctuary may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Moonrise Sanctuary does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Donors should consult their own tax advisor regarding the deductibility of any contribution.

Unless otherwise stated, donations are voluntary, non-refundable, and may be used where most needed to support Moonrise Sanctuary’s mission, including animal care, feed, veterinary expenses, sanctuary maintenance, rescue efforts, educational programs, fundraising, administrative expenses, and operations.

Moonrise Sanctuary may provide donation receipts or written acknowledgments as required by law. For donations of $250 or more, donors are responsible for obtaining and retaining a written acknowledgment that meets IRS requirements.

Goods, Services, Event Tickets, and Quid Pro Quo Donations

If a donor receives goods or services in exchange for a payment to Moonrise Sanctuary, including but not limited to event admission, merchandise, meals, tours, workshops, or other benefits, only the amount paid in excess of the fair market value of the goods or services may be tax-deductible.

Where required, Moonrise Sanctuary will provide a good faith estimate of the value of goods or services provided in exchange for a payment.

5. Animal Sponsorships

Animal sponsorships are symbolic unless expressly stated otherwise. Sponsoring an animal does not create ownership rights, custody rights, adoption rights, visitation rights, decision-making authority, or any legal interest in the animal.

Sponsorship funds may be used for the sponsored animal’s care or, where needed, for the care of other sanctuary animals and general sanctuary operations. Moonrise Sanctuary reserves the right to redirect sponsorship funds to the area of greatest need consistent with its charitable mission.

6. Merchandise, Tickets, and Paid Programs

If Moonrise Sanctuary offers merchandise, event tickets, workshops, tours, or other paid programs through the website, all prices, descriptions, availability, and policies are subject to change.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders, correct pricing errors, limit quantities, or discontinue products or services at any time.

Refunds, exchanges, cancellations, and rescheduling may be subject to separate policies posted at the time of purchase or registration.

7. Visits, Tours, Events, and Volunteer Activities

Moonrise Sanctuary may offer visits, tours, events, volunteer opportunities, or other on-site activities. Participation may require advance registration, approval, waivers, safety instructions, age restrictions, supervision requirements, closed-toe shoes, appropriate clothing, and compliance with sanctuary rules.

Animals, especially horses and rescued animals, can be unpredictable. By attending an event, visiting the property, volunteering, or participating in any on-site activity, you understand that there are inherent risks, including but not limited to bites, kicks, falls, allergic reactions, property damage, uneven ground, weather exposure, and other risks associated with animals and outdoor environments.

Visitors and volunteers must follow all posted rules, staff instructions, safety guidelines, and animal handling restrictions. Moonrise Sanctuary may deny entry, remove participants, or end participation at any time for safety, animal welfare, misconduct, intoxication, harassment, failure to follow instructions, or any other reason we determine appropriate.

8. No Veterinary, Medical, Legal, or Professional Advice

The content on this website may discuss animal care, rescue, rehabilitation, nutrition, behavior, veterinary treatment, or sanctuary operations. This information is for general educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, financial advice, or other professional guidance.
